The More You Know, the Better: A guide to buying hemp extract products

The hemp extract industry is growing, well, like a weed. It’s getting a lot of attention and interest from both consumers and regulators. Industry projections suggest that by 2024, it will be a high-double-digit billion-dollar category. Which means everyone wants “in”.

Why all the fuss?

Health and wellness matter. People want to feel their best and be their best. And hemp extract can help. The ingredients found in it, and the ingredients added to it, can help support your body’s own endocannabinoid system (ECS).  The ECS manages a variety of biological processes like appetite, sleep, relaxation, and inflammation responses.

But like any new and high-growth industry, it is attracting its share of disreputable players.

Recently, the CDC, the FDA, and others have issued warnings that some products do not contain the levels of CBD or other ingredients they claimed. And that some contain tainted ingredients (such as pesticides, herbicides). Even industry advocates have expressed concern.

However, rest assured, there are plenty of trustworthy, respectable, honest hemp extract brands in the marketplace that are doing things the right way, from seed-to-home. Here’s what to look for (and what to avoid) when you’re thinking about trying hemp extract.

It starts at the farm. Healthy soil means healthy plants. Look for products that are sourced from well-vetted farmers who grow their hemp in organic soil, who avoid pesticides and herbicides, who stay away from unnecessary chemicals. And whose farming practices are natural, eco-friendly and sustainable.

Make sure the products you are considering are all-natural, vegan, gluten-free, and contain only non-GMO ingredients. That they have no THC, no toxins or heavy metals, no microbials, no mycotoxins, and no flavorings or colorings. And only buy products that are rigorously tested by reputable third parties to ensure potency, purity, and consistency.

The bottom line is there is a great deal of evidence that hemp extract helps improve health and wellness. From easing pain and inflammation, aiding sleep and relaxation, improving focus, reducing anxiety, and just feeling better overall, every day more people are finding it to be effective and beneficial.

Be a smart consumer…do your research, read the labels, browse reviews. And be wary of outlandish claims. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Good brands create safe, healthy, effective products. They take that responsibility very seriously and work hard to deliver it to you.
